14/52 – What Home Means To Me …
A house is just a house until you make it a home. While home is a place, for me it’s often defined by the comfort of family. I can be just as at home in the woods on a canoe trip or in a room-full of like-minded people, as I am in the actual house that we’ve transformed into the home where the five of us live.
There really is no place as divine as the comfort of home, wherever that place may be.
And then there are times when you need to bring the comforts of home to the space you temporarily occupy. That’s when your skills to quickly think and repurpose a tree trunk as a potty seat to save yourself from a pee soaked toddler are so valued. Do not underestimate how amazing it is to stumble upon the perfect tree perch at exactly the right moment on your hike.
What you see above is a well-documented parenting rockstar moment.
What you don’t see somewhere off to the near right, and just outside of the bounds of the camera frame, is one very embarrassed teenager pretending not to be related to his moms.
